Jacob Riis and Lewis Hines were two of the most journalists during the late-nineteenth century that started the trends of documentary-style photos. Both of them pointed out the different sides of lives after the industrial revolution. Both of these artists studied how the industrial revolution impacted the people such as housing and factory lives. It can be said that both of the photographers had used children as their subjects. In the photographs taken by Hines, the use of space is very prominent.
